Dear Reader,
There are seasons when life asks us to be strong, and seasons when life asks us to be soft. And then there are seasons when life asks us to be both at once.
This past lunar cycle has been one of those seasons for me.
Two days before the eclipse in Leo, a devastating earthquake struck my hometown in Colombia. The same day, my beloved spiritual brother Godfrey (God-Free) entered the hospital. Four weeks later, on September 7th, four days before the New Moon in Virgo, he passed.
I have been sitting with this. Feeling it. Letting it move through me. And I am only now finding the words.
I want to share what this time has taught me, because it has everything to do with what this next lunar cycle is asking of all of us.
The earthquake shook the ground beneath my homeland.
The hospital bed held the body of a man me and my family love deeply.
Both situations asked me to be present and asked me to open.
I had the honour and privilege of being by his bedside in his final days. I sang to him. I held his hand. I let him know, without words, that he did not have to be anything or do anything to receive my love. He simply had to receive.
He allowed his spirit to fly home a little more than a week ago; then on Sunday we sang for him and I felt his joyful presence and I had the grace to perceive his voice. It was one of the most holy moments of my life.
During this time, I was also guiding my children through the assimilation of these two rattling experiences. And my youngest son, in his wisdom, and by the grace of his open heart said something that gave me profound joy: "I felt him by my side, Iknow he is my guardian." ๐ฆ
He is not gone, he has transformed, and we are transforming with him.
This is the gift of walking this path. Not that we avoid pain. But that we learn to perceive it as a path that nourishes our heart and cultivates peace and true joy.
This all unfolded during the precise transition from Fire season to Earth season.
Fire is the element of joy. Earth is the element of embodied wisdom. And the threshold between them is where joy becomes wisdom. Where what we feel becomes what we know. Where what we experience becomes what we carry.
This transition only happens when we allow ourselves to assimilate what the experience awakens inside of us. Not when we cling to what we wanted or expected. But when we open to what unfolded, exactly as it unfolded.
That is what I have been practicing. That is what this time has asked of me.
Now we arrive at the New Moon in Virgo.
Virgo is often perceived as the sign of purity. But the truth is that the purity this sign offers is the purity of the mind. What we think. What we believe. How we organize our thoughts and mental structures.
Because it is our mental structures that give meaning to our life experiences. And it is the meaning we assign that allows us to assimilate those experiences in a way that nourishes us. Nourishes our Earth. Nourishes our physical body.
This is the connection between Mercury and this Earth sign. Mercury rules the mind, the intellect, the way we process and communicate. Virgo is Earth, the body, the tangible. Together, they remind us that what we think shape the emotions we experience, give rise to how we express them, how we act, and results on what/how we embody them.
This next lunar cycle will stir a deep dive within your mind and heart. It will ask you to identify:
- What desires are nourishing you on every level?
- Which ones are creating pain and destructive habits?
- What beliefs are shaping your experience of life?
- What mental structures are ready to be purified?
The New Moon in Virgo is not asking you to do more. It is asking you to cultivate clarity and nourish sanity.
1. Your Direction & Intention
What Needs Clarity? What Direction Am I Choosing?
Virgo is ruled by Mercury, the planet of the mind and communication. This is a time for inner reflection and achieve inner clarity. A season for honest self-reflection, and have the courage to really see what is alive within you and the structures guiding your inner direction.
Your Metal Practice:
Shifting Meaning and Purifying your Mind
The Belief Inventory
Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle.
On the left side, write: "What I believe about this experience."โ
On the right side, write: "What is actually true."
Choose one challenging situation from the past month. Write down the story you have been telling yourself about it. Then, on the right side, write what you know to be true, without interpretation.
For example:
- Left: "I should have done more."
- Right: "I was present. I did what I could."
Notice which side feels heavier in your body. Notice which side feels lighter. The truth is not always comfortable, but it is always freeing.
Somatic Check: Place your hand on your forehead. Breathe. Ask: "Is my mind clear? Or is it clouded by a story?"
2. Emotion: Your Creative Energy in Motion
What Needs to Flow? What Emotion Is Asking for Release?
The past lunar cycle brought grief, fear, uncertainty, and love. Many of us are still holding what we could not process in the moment.
This is the time to let these emotions flow. To cultivate the role of the perciever of the emotion and not get confused identifying with it.
A Water Practice: Finding the Rhythm of Flow to Witness what lies within
Theme: Letting Grief Move
Practice: The Bowl of Release
Fill a bowl with water. Sit with it. Hold it in your hands.
Name what you are still carrying. Speak it aloud, or write it on a small piece of paper and place it in the water.
Then, slowly, pour the water out. Watch it move. Watch it disappear into the earth or the drain.
Say: "I release what I have been holding. I let it flow. I let it go."
You do not have to feel better immediately. You just have to let the water move. That is the practice.
Somatic Check: After you pour, place your hand on your belly. Breathe. Notice if anything has shifted, even slightly.
Let it rise. Let it flow. You are the perceiver and whatever emotion arises it cannot hurt you.
3. Your Vital Expression
What Wants to Be Born? What Is My Authentic Expression?
From the deep ocean of emotions, your inner voice rises. It always does.
This New Moon is not asking you to perform your expression. It is asking you to allow it. What wants to grow and be seen from these nourishing waters? What new way of expressing is gestating?
๐ณ Your Wood Practice: โ
Theme: Speaking What Is True
Practice: The Unspoken Sentence
What is one sentence you have been holding back? Not a confrontation. Not a confession. Just a truth you have not allowed yourself to speak.
Write it down. Then say it aloud.
You can say it to yourself in the mirror. You can say it to a trusted friend. You can say it to the sky.
The words do not need to be perfect. They just need to be spoken. Your voice is the instrument. Use it.
Somatic Check: Place your hand on your throat. Feel the vibration. Notice if there is tightness. Notice if there is release.
4. Choosing Aligned Action
What Is My Aligned Action? What Ignites Me?
What Is My Aligned Action? What Ignites Me?
Aligned action is not about pushing. It is about cultivating awareness of your inner vibration and acting in resonance and alignment with it.
Your Fire Practice:
Look at your calendar. Find one thing you are doing because you should. Ask: What if I chose this instead of being obligated to it?
If the answer is that you would not choose it, give yourself permission to release it.
Somatic Check: Before you choose, place your hand on your heart. Ask: "Does this expand me or contract me?" Your body knows the answer.
This is not laziness. This is alignment.

5. Nurturing Embodiment
How Do I Integrate This? How Does This Land in My Body?
Finally, we return to the body. Always, we have to return, it is the home for our soul in this life journey.
Virgo rules the belly, the digestion, the place where we assimilate what we take in and experience. This is the time to explore your body, to nourish it, and rest. Allow what you have harvested to truly become part of your being.
โ
๐ Your Earth Practice: โ
Theme: Assimilating What You Have Received
Practice: The Body Scan for What Remains
Lie down or sit comfortably. Close your eyes.
Bring your attention to your feet. Then your legs. Then your belly. Then your chest. Then your throat. Then your face. Then the top of your head.
At each place, ask: "What is still held here?"
You are not trying to fix anything. You are simply noticing. Where is there tightness? Where is there ease? Where is there numbness? Where is there life?
Then, place both hands on your belly. Breathe into your hands. And say: "I assimilate what is mine to carry. I release what is not."
This is the harvest. This is the embodiment. This is how the Earth receives.
Somatic Check: After the scan, sit quietly for one minute. Notice the quality of your breath. Notice the weight of your body. Notice if you feel more present.
THE SPIRAL
"Freedom is what you do with what has been done to you"
Jean Paul Sartre
This past cycle, I was reminded that love does not end. It transforms.
My beloved brother is not gone. He has returned to the source of the love he carried so generously. And he is still with us. My son knows this. I know this. And now, you know this too.
The spiral continues. Not as a circle that returns to the same place, but as a spiral that returns to the same truth at a deeper level.
You are held. You are loved. You are love. And you are guided by wisdom that is bigger than you.
A Practice for this New Moon
Before the New Moon passes, take a moment to sit with yourself.
Place your hand on your heart. Feel your feet on the floor.
And ask:
What is ready to be harvested?โ
โWhat is ready to be released?โ
โWhat is ready to be planted?
You do not need to have the answers. Just ask. And listen.
An Invitation
I want to share something that has been holding me through this time.
I am hosting weekly sessions at Flower of Life Yoga, Tuesdays at 7:30 PM, at 264 Christie St. These are 60-minute gatherings of gentle yoga, breathwork, mantra, and a 15-minute sound bath. A space to pause mid-week. To breathe. To be held.
All funds from these sessions will go to support a school and a community center in Cali, Colombia, both of which need to be rebuilt after the earthquake. Only the rental cost for the space will be deducted. Everything else goes directly to the cause.
If you feel called to join, you are welcome. If you would like more details, you can e-mail me.
The next session is September 22. The last session of this cycle will be October 20.
No pressure. Just an open door.

A Final, Heartfelt Note
This newsletter comes later than usual. I needed the time to be present, to serve my family, to reconnect with the source that gives me energy to act.
I am grateful for the eclipse, for the earthquake, for the fear, and for the return. Because in the return, I remembered: I am not "little me." I am part of something vast, something loving, something wise.
And so are you.
With warmth, after a week of deep presence and full-hearted remembering,
